Parents at School Parents are very welcome at the school. Please come along to the many activities that we have throughout the year. Providing transport, working with children in small groups, listening to children read and helping with sports programmes are just some of the activities we love to have parent help with. We do appreciate the help and support that parents and friends of the school give us.
The School and Community This is YOUR school. It does not just belong to the Ministry of Education, teachers or pupils. The school belongs to, and should be part of, the community. Thousands of dollars worth of facilities exist at your school and these facilities are, within reason, avaliable for use on request by responsible members of the community or community organisations. It also follows that if this school is your school, you are welcome in it. We like to see parents. Unless good communication exists between parents and the school, we will not be 100% successful in our mutual task - the total education of your child.
Helping Your Child With Reading, Writing and Mathematics
You play an important part in supporting your child's learning.
To help you do this, here is information from the Ministry of Education Website, about the National Standards in reading, writing and mathematics. They show how they work in a school context, and tips on how you can support your child’s learning during their years at school. This can be done through interactive, fun, easy, everyday activities that you can do at home, and while out and about.
So click on the link below that represents your child's year at school and have a read of the PDF file. If you have any questions about the information, please do not hesitate to get in contact with your child's classroom teacher.
