The 4 Year Old Programme is now situated in Room 5 with Mrs Murphy. This is a programme run for the next 8 - 10 students due to start at our school.
We start at 9am and go through to the end of break one at 11.40am. Students are then returned back to their kindergartens or picked up by a parent/caregiver.
Parents are asked to bring a piece of fruit for fruit break at 10am and then some food for break one at 11am.
Our learning goals before we start school are: To follow classroom routines To be able to write our name To be able to count to 10 and back To be able to say the sounds of the letters in the alphabet.
In the 4 year old programme we do a range of activities to help students achieve these goals.
GRADUATION
We have had some students graduate from the four year old programme. They have completed the programme and are now ready to start school. Congratulations to those students and good luck at school.
HANDWRITING
In the 4 year old programme we are learning to use our handwriting book correctly. We start the page by writing our name and then we have to write the letter of the day along the line from left to right. We finish our page with the number of the day. We are getting very good at writing our letters and numbers correctly.
Jj is for Jelly
This week we made Jelly because our letter of the week was Jj. It was very exciting to watch it thicken up. Most of us liked to eat it too. Yum Yum.
Crossing The Brain
In our four year old programme we have been learning to cross the left and right side of the brain. We put balls from one bucket to the other using one hand. We had a race to see who could do it the fastest. We then practised our counting to 10 by putting the correct amount of balls into the bucket.
Tt IS FOR TREE
Last week we were focusing on the letter Tt and what sound it makes. We went outside and found our own leaves for our tree. Then we stuck toothpicks on for the trunk. It was a lot of fun. We are very creative in the 4 Year Old Programme.
Writing Our Name
Each week in the 4 year old programme we do a lot of work with our name. This is so that when we start school we are able to recognise and write our own name. Miss Monk gave us some NEW magnetic letters, so we tired them out. Can you find your name again?
SCHOOL VISITS
Four weeks before your child is due to start school you will receive a letter to tell you what is involved for the school visits. This will include what room your child will be in, the length of each visit, who your child's teacher will be, etc. Click on the link below to view the letter that we send out to parents.
